Om arrangementet
Only 8% of scaleups are based in Europe, while 30% of our successful startups leave for the US when it is time to scale globally. This “brain drain” represents a significant threat to European democracy, sovereignty and security. Mario Draghi’s report on the future of European competitiveness underscored the urgency we are facing; we need to be cutting edge, not export our cutting edge potential to other continents.
The EU commission is implementing their Startup and Scaleup Strategy: Choose Europe to incentivize more founders and companies to stay and grow from Europe. As part of this, they have launched the €5bn Scaleup Europe Fund and are investing strategically in tech companies representing tomorrow’s industries. Mario Draghi’s report on the future of European competitiveness pointed out that innovation in disruptive technologies are key to achieving international competitiveness – and relevance.
This fall, the Draghi Nordics report is launched, and we already know from NHO’s “Norwegian Draghi” that Norway is behind in most key parameters for innovation and tech. What can we learn from the motions put in force in the EU? What is the EU doing, and is it working? Come and learn from key players on the European policy, investment and scaleup scene.
