Can Finance, Business, Policy, and Law Truly Work for Nature?

As pressure mounts to account for nature in economic and financial systems, nature is increasingly making its way into boardrooms, investment strategies, and policy frameworks. Yet, behind every biodiversity credit and ecosystem valuation lies a deeper question:

What happens when we acknowledge nature’s intrinsic worth, beyond economic metrics?

This dialogue begins from a different premise: that nature is not just an asset to be managed, but a living system with agency. If rivers, forests, and coral reefs are recognised as legal entities with rights, how must our laws, institutions, and financial markets respond?

Join leaders from finance, business, law, and governance to explore how institutions are embedding nature into strategy, investment, and legal systems. The session highlights practical innovations and policy shifts, from fiduciary duty to rights-based approaches, for better outcomes for nature and society.

Co-hosted by GRID-Arendal, UN Global Compact, and Earth Law Centre, this Arendalsuka event brings together high-level voices to shape a new bottom line where nature is central to how we define value and make decisions.
